Do you have a beach holiday or your best friend’s wedding coming up? Do you feel like you could cut down on some “lockdown kg’s” and lose some weight? Don’t stress about it… here are a few quick and easy changes that you can make to slim down. As little as one week before the “big day”.
Increase your water intake. Keeping well hydrated is the key to ensuring you have good skin, good gut health and a firing metabolism. Keep a bottle handy to remind you to take a sip every now and then, and to eradicate all excuses of “it was too far to the kitchen”.
2.) Fibre to lose weight.
Increase your fibre intake. Keep all forms of fibre in their natural form. ie: whole grain foods or fruits with their skin on. Fibre not only keeps you regular, which reduces bloating, but also keeps you fuller for longer, which reduces cravings and binges.
3.) Lose weight with Cardio
Increase your cardio. Try HIT training. This style of training where your heart rate increases and then drops, increases and drops in a pattern, has shown to improve your cardiovascular fitness levels, and to keep your body a fat-burning machine for up to 6 hours after exercise has stopped! Try some hill sprints to mix things up and get your daily dose of Vitamin D.
4.) Remove Processed Food
Remove all processed food from your diet! Keep food as close to its natural form as possible. Added sugars, sodium, colourants and preservatives do nothing for your cravings, energy levels and waistline. If it has more than 5 ingredients on its label – toss it!
5.) Do not stress
When wanting to lose weight, DO NOT STRESS! Stress increases your cortisol levels. Cortisol is your body’s hormone responsible for your fight-or-flight response. As soon as you are under any kind of stress, it goes into ‘survival mode’, and latches on to any form of energy it can. Ie: your fat stores.
There are also ways for you to keep up your year’s healthy habit efforts.
Go, enjoy the event, and take beautiful pictures because you can!
