Did you know that your kidneys are two of the most important organs in your body?

They can be killers behind your back, as they filter toxins and remove waste from your blood. If they are not functioning properly, it can lead to a build-up of toxins in the bloodstream. What are kidneys?

Kidneys are bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine just below the rib cage and slightly behind the stomach. They perform several critical functions that keep your body healthy.

One such function is to filter out waste from your blood regulating fluid volume so you don’t have any excessive water loss or retention. Kidneys play a role in maintaining our blood pressure by regulating the amount of salt and water they release into the urine. The kidney also regulates electrolytes like calcium, potassium and sodium bicarbonate. This ensures a balance in bodily fluids as well as for nerve impulses and muscle contractions.
